Desert gallery
The Sinai isn’t all high, rugged mountains; these highlands stand on the edge of vast, windswept deserts, famous for their open plains, twisting canyons and green oases that shimmer in the sands. These deserts are a place with an epic sense of freedom where many Bedouin still live the old way, walking with their camels, grazing their goats on desert pasture and staying in their traditional tents. And make no mistake: these areas might be deserts, but they do still have mountains: they’re lower, with a different look to the peaks of the highlands; but they’re beautiful, challenging and worthy of climbing in their own right all the same. These images give a glimpse of what’s there.
